Harv’s life as perpetual-problems-solving can be seen as (1) separated challenges and (2) unseparated(complex) challenges. If the problems are understood, then the problem-solving-time spent can be short, and considered personal GROWTH in an ‘old’ sense, which includes the ability to step time-spent to the next personal self-interest — subject to boredom and life.flow theory. However, living a liquid modernity is problemS and thus complex unless seriously fenced and thus not freeing. Harv seeks continued freeing. Quick links to this blog’s unfenced highlights — directly below. Trying to “put his complex all together.”

Trump’s tariffs injected major uncertainty into a humming economy, shocking even some of his wealthy supporters.
“It’s insane,” Strain said. “This is an enormous self-inflicted wound on the economy, and to see our government do this to American businesses and households is something I never thought I would see.”
The economists I’ve talked to say it was good that Trump pulled back on some tariffs after seeing economic warning signs, but they worry he won’t get rid of all the levies. Swonk said he seems pretty dug in on tariffs as a way to pay for his tax cuts.
“Now we’re going to be making money with everyone,” Trump told reporters Wednesday, repeating an exaggerated claim that tariffs will bring in billions in revenue a day, “and everyone’s going to be happy.”

Michael Kimmage, director of the Wilson Center’s Kennan Institute, laid out in a thoughtful Foreign Affairs essay how Trump is seemingly more aligned with strongmen such as Putin, Xi, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan — all, to varying extents, right-wing leaders of so-called “civilization states” that [they] see … nations tethered to a glorious past that must be redeemed in the future. They abhor the cosmopolitanism of urban elites in their own societies, and are skeptical about the liberal pretensions of the fraying “rules-based” order backed by the United States for almost a century.

2025feb13,15    Watch the many measures of wealth gaps increase year after year
Syria — It’s the third conference on Syria since Assad was ousted in December, and the first since President Donald Trump’s administration took over in the U.S.    Trump’s controversial decision to freeze foreign assistance has raised concerns in Syria, a country that had depended on hundreds of millions of dollars in aid from the U.S. and now left in ruins by a civil war.    The Trump administration is pulling almost all USAID workers out of the field worldwide, all but ending a six-decade mission meant to shore up American security by fighting starvation, funding education and working to end epidemics.  https://apnews.com/article/syria-conference-trump-aid-b0d50283d7ebd28020790d212df2ad44
Ukraine — Several NATO allies stressed on Thursday that Ukraine and Europe must not be cut out of any peace negotiations as U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth denied that the United States is betraying the war-ravaged country.    European governments are reeling after the Trump administration signaled that it is planning face-to-face talks with Russia on ending the Ukraine war without involving them, insisted that Kyiv should not join NATO, and said that it’s up to Europe to protect itself and Ukraine from whatever Russia might do next.    “There can be no negotiation about Ukraine without Ukraine. And Ukraine’s voice must be at the heart of any talks,” U.K. Defence Secretary John Healey told reporters at NATO headquarters, as the organization’s 32 defense ministers met for talks on Ukraine.  https://apnews.com/article/nato-us-ukraine-war-europe-negotiations-0e3688f571c33797d812b1b9cbc575e5
AIDS — “In the next five years, we could have 6.3 million AIDS-related deaths,” the U.N. AIDS agency told The Associated Press. That’s a shock at a time of rising complacency around HIV, declining condom use among some young people and the rise of a medication that some believe could end AIDS for good.    The agency has begun publicly tracking new HIV infections since the aid freeze.  https://apnews.com/article/trump-aid-freeze-usaid-hiv-pepfar-9c1e6a70c5250a56feddf48757f923c8
SLAP STICK COMEDY that really hurts — Trump seems to be missing the deep-definition sense of COOPERATION.  Trump moves with dizzying speed on his to-do list. But there are warning signs in his first month.  https://apnews.com/article/trump-firings-tariffs-lawsuits-economy-ukraine-putin-19b79f62ad7c9d51cfb1f0551953051e

2025jan30      At the height of American progress for its citizens, here come the looters — again and again.
[87yo Harv, in his best interest, steps out of their way.]
Every new president generates a lot of news, but
something feels different this time
To the delight of his fans and dismay of his detractors, Trump has made so many pronouncements and held so many press Q&A’s that he has been
all but impossible to avoid.
Think about it: A year ago you could go days without seeing or thinking about Biden.
Today, you’re lucky if you can go hours without
thinking about Trump.  And that’s
just how he likes it.
