1940 — Harv’s I-SELF story starts here ======== Junior, as shown in pic, he is already an in-mind FOCUSED OBSERVER thanks to being ‘alone’ in the big-city growth POLITICAL ATMOSPHERE named “sewer socialism” (circa 1850-1950 Milwaukee WI). The pic portrays central Wisconsin ‘vacation’ for Senior (he NEVER went back to farm nor marriage) — mother Connie is shown with or without sister Gloria who lived one day as a ‘blue baby’ — urbanite tavern-owner-son, Senior (Rh+), shown not yet into the full stupor as a functioning alcoholic (he lived to 78y through six dry-up cures until drink made him really sick due to an exhausted liver). Connie [the “sewer socialist” not politically active] lived into her 102nd year at her Milwaukee retirement home — the ‘not-good-enough’ son driving cross country to visit at least yearly, staying in a home guest room taking meals with the residents (Connie did not socialize with her fellow residents ☹️) — until maybe 2005 when he was departing in the retirement home hallway she announced, “Harvey, I don’t think we should see each other again.”😪 Harv, without hesitation responded, “Ma, I agree,” walking off — we never spoke again, or corresponded. Harv was the shotgun pregnancy not aborted. We three were the culmination of generations of what Harv labels as NO-TALK❗️Grand daughter Susan was afforded some Connie TALK and memorabilia before Connie’s death. The years tumbled on, with Harv’s I-SELF subconsciously still driven by his parochial education and his sewer-socialist tradition. He was a latch key kid — the best mother Connie could do in her life-circumstance — as an elementary student he traveled alone to spend summers spread among the mid WI relatives — the last year spent doing substantial 50-head farming work for one aunt/uncle who also owned a ‘hot’ dance hall — Harv worked both. Harv was left to his own devices in getting on in his ME-SELF life, yet he/Connie could be loosely described as a family of two. In 1961 Harv splintered off into marriage with Elaine. Connie alone then coped with her retirement with some Harv assist, focusing in on a life-end retirement home. Harv looked to his future as a SEWER SOCIALIST child — but did not know it then ❗️ That historical awareness came via life-long retro study in October 2025. Continued study aims at making the ‘correct’ choices for Harv’s Real Retirement 2025 status growth. ♠️ P.S. he retired from Bridge play with a one-quarter Masters‘ point.

2025 — looking ‘into’ his ‘magic-window’ iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard connected to “in-car home” internet, Harv jokingly laughs, (when he can get his keys LIT all-the-time🤥) — Harv laughs at his EXTERIOR SELF while at his daily-picnic-in-the-county-park [he is now TRESPASSED there 😕] — HARV is forever curious of his INNER SELF related to world-wariness via his curated “FREE” CHOICES. Before Harv’s INNER SELF study seriously took over his whole-hour lifetime interest in 2025.    Harv is in his 63rd year, physically and mentally fit, relatively independent financially, and has relocated in the sub tropics of Florida, thus available and interested in pursuing the possibility of being a dance companion (gentleman host) on a cruise ship. His interest in cruise ship dancing goes back at least ten years, specifically when the occupation was featured by a prime time television news magazine. In more recent years he even collected application forms but was never in a position to easily arrange the geographics. But now, Florida resident status is a reality.

   Harv loves people and likes to dance socially. He is educated and has had full careers in industry and college teaching (retiring at age 51), and community service activities were wide ranging. In short, he can converse with just about everyone, specifically linking to some personal experience. Sociable dance specifics are (1) past President of Parents Without Partners where he danced with all the ladies, (2) participated in many beginning dance lessons for the enjoyment of being associated with learning, (3) knows how to lead even the beginning non dancing person, (4) dances to the many counts of 2, 3, 4, and 5, and can enjoyably dance a 1-2 while conversing, disregarding the music beat if the partner warrents, and they feel like they're dancing as he leads them through 1-2 turns for example, (5) his nickname has been Happy Harv since his teen years, (6) he was married 21 years and has been single for the last 17 years, side stepping many advances by the ladies, and (7) he can interface patiently yet assertively with a smile in difficult situations.

   He acquired a tux for Old English dancing but lost that endeavor when moving from the east coast. Yet he maintaines a tux for special occasions - weddings, hospital balls, charity casino nights, etc. Also, Harv has danced at the Plus level of square dancing but is no longer active.

   His pre retirement life phase began at age 51 and included being a contractual live-in companion for a gentleman who had recently lost his wife, and then for a wheel chair bound lady, getting her out of the house most days, among other companion instances, including asking people to dance from the first dance to the last. These last several years of pre retirement have been family oriented, traveling between his three children, one grandchild, and the grandchild's great grandmother.

   He travels well. For example, he was in Florida for the holidays, went to Ohio to assist his daughter in moving from Ohio to California (drove the moving truck towing his car), spent February in California, then drove from California to Florida in March doing some bicycling on the way, and in May he will visit his mother at her Milwaukee Wisconsin retirement home for several weeks. His careers have taken him to live in many states - Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio, West Virginia, Delaware, Kansas, and Missouri. Job duties added extended visits to Arizona, Texas, New York, Florida, and Iowa. Family vacations toured North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Indiana, and Florida. And in his diversity, he still maintains a set of winter hiking clothes just in case. In the 1990s he has traveled in Europe and he has a passport.
