happy 54th birthday to son Chris

2023october.    Finally, some family slide scans/disposal to close Harv's family photo taking and memory reminder participation.    Almost 40 years have elapsed since Harv's mid-life crisis, to include the beginning annulment healing process.    After decades, in Harv's inimitable slow-walk life  progress, he has seemingly righted his self -- now in Florida retirement, but not necessarily full retirement yet.    For his full retirement with some sort of assisted living, he need not be specific location(s) oriented.

Harv's Florida retirement remains car-living oriented -- peaceful and convenient -- with his supportive weekday "COA retirement office."

-- SAVED AND  NOT FORGOTTEN --
And further, several dozen slides have been digitized.  Several are cleaned up versions of those previously published:

2023july26-29.  Harv gets a bit ahead in his calendar, and reenters his struggle with Apple Photos, using son Chris' birthday wishes as an in-the-close-future target.  Perhaps Harv will progress so far as to digitize some the 'ancient' family slides.  Perhaps -- since four decades of digitization wishes have already elapsed for the 4000 slide treasure.

Currently, Chris, who began as an OSU Software Engineer, works from home in North Carolina, married, doing "secret CIA type -- Defense Department stuff".  Harv thinks Chris is an expert at 'software code de-spaghettification'.  [WIKIPEDIA:  Spaghetti code is a pejorative phrase for unstructured and difficult-to-maintain source code. Spaghetti code can be caused by several factors, such as volatile project requirements, lack of programming style rules, and software engineers with insufficient ability or experience.]  Harv thinks that Chris writes prized CLEAN code that is reliable;  unlike code that figured into historical airplane crashes, for example.

So then, where to begin the photo journey?

Harv has successfully isolated his M2-computer photos from the Apple cloud, but still currently fears 'correcting the Apple Cloud'.  He currently has 13165 M2 photos AND not 64115 iCloud photos.  This situation was entered by Harv's action but facilitated by Apple geek-dumb.

Surprisingly, today's reawakened use of Photos, searching with "Chris",  gave smooth results of 225 photos, with some duplicates.

Harv finds interesting that his focus to tribute Chris, without forethought, is, quite rationally, Harv now realizes, on Harv himself relative to Chris

The 'family slides' remain truly un-digitized, as these.  These pix came from Harv's 1999 slides-digitization effort, at daughter Susan's home in Columbus -- photographing the 4000 slides from a Kodak box projector's screen.

Son Chris and grandson Lance trace their physical prowess likeness to Uncle Tommie, who was the sturdiest of the Lemmerman bunch.  Here, Tom, the fireman, introduces smoke and beer to Chris.  He was that kind of guy.

And then came Amber, and the eventual elevation to North Carolina -- that was quite the squeeze through the proverbial keyhole, but Tina the matriarch of Dynamism Central, got everyone through (Harv was household sitting at DeBary at the time).

Thanks to Chris/Tina for sharing ur households over the decades, to enrich my retirement -- Tampa, Williamsburg, Baldwin Park, Apex.

2022oct06  (Found this on an old page and added it here.)

By mutual consent there is no mention of the numbered 2022 birthday achieved by son Chris, aka, Pal.

Regardless of giving up counting birthdays, Dad (GP Harvey) still desires to delve back into the old family slides and digitize however many Chris-related pix that GP is able -- which is zero to date since 1984 and a lot, embarrassing so, although he kept them in his personal treasured possession the entire elapsed time, with intentions both good and not-so. He will fail again but some progress is being made.

GP's progress explanation is his maturity -- now old enough to consider his 2024 projected death (ref: 2022aug05F email to Susan and GP Bob -- "no more running" if that's even humanly possible). There's only so much life time remaining, and he chooses this post to be his today priority.

Now follows the challenge of quality digitization, the DIY project that has stymied GP for decades.

Background: the above slide's image (and the other '4000') were projected on a Kodak Cube projector, along with all the slides, and were photographed with a digital camera while living with Susan at Bigby Hollow in Columbus (probably 2000) -- the quality obviously very poor and discouraging, GP over the years purchased a scanner and several software versions which he never could master. He was hoping that family would guide him in selecting which slides to hardware scan first -- one-at-time.  Currently, he attempts to use his Apple iPhone camera and an internet web site backlight {provided for slide digitization), to digitally capture the original slide image (whatever is left after decades of age). The web site backlight may not be strong enough but GP still has the hardware backlight in reserve (however, with little hope of breakthrough where he has failed before). His ability to Blogger-post images now again brings a quality digitization process life aim to the fore.

Stay tuned:
